Since my last post, a very unusual thing happened. I actually saw EVERY SINGLE member of my family within one week of each other. Crazy.
First we went up to Montana and stayed with my brother, Aaron, and his family for the weekend the third weekend in September. My dad had also flown out to visit so he was there too. We all felt the need to go visit my brother because he is being deployed to Kuwait on October 22nd. Hopefully he returns home safely, but we all had a sudden feeling of desperation to see him! So we had a fun couple of says visiting there. They live in a for real log cabin in the woods. They have a pogo stick, light sabers, zip line, a tree house, and the mountains are their playground. The kids had a blast.
So we left there on a Sunday afternoon and drove the four house back to Rexburg. Then on Thursday morning bright and early, we got in our SUV and drove to Wisconsin. We stopped halfway in Bismarck and stayed the night. Then we arrived there on Friday night, September 30. Our kids have a week off from school the first week of every October for "Spud Harvest" break. So it's a good time to take a little vacation!
We slept at my grandma Dahlke's house, but spent a lot of time over at my mom's too. Our activities included: Caleb's baptism, Little Farmer, Wisconsin Dells at the Wilderness watermark resort, Lego Discovery Center in Chicago, and riding scooters, go-karts, and rollerblades with grandpa Jack. (You would think from that description he is about 30 years old…. but nope. He's 87. Still a kid at heart! ;)
For time purposes and the fact that it is currently 11:03 pm, I will just say that they had lots of fun and not go into much detail. We somehow also acquired a guinea pig while in Wisconsin (Thanks, Craigslist!) to accompany the salamander we also got for Caleb right before we left! (That's a whole nother story!!!!)
Also! Avery started now at both of her preschools and she is loving it. Gabe is just wrapping up his soccer season (last game is this Saturday) and Caleb is all done with Flag football. They were unedited all season and then lost the very last game. Such a heart breaker! But they had a great season so hopefully they didn't feel too bad.
Caleb also got braces put on his top teeth to fix a crazy "cross-bite" he suddenly developed when one of his front teeth came in crooked. Gabe is having oral surgery soon as well. I am hoping to win the lottery to pay for all of this.
It's starting to get chilly here all of a sudden! Fall is definitely in the air and the leaves are starting to fall! I am NOT excited about Winter.
That's all for now!
