So one fun thing I forgot to mention last time is that on our way home from Wisconsin, we took a picture of me and Gabe in the exact same spot that we took on exactly ten years ago (almost to the day probably.) Gabe has changed. I like to think I look exactly the same! lol
So, we got home from Wisconsin after Spud Harvest break and our kids went back to school. The weather got a little bit cooler and the leaves were starting to fall of the trees. We went to a corn maze with our friends the Buis's and the Milners. We had a fearless leader (Sam) who used the map to get us safely through! LOL Avery had a lot of fun one day outside with me raking the very small amount of leaves we had and jumping in them.
Then she and Gabe both had to go through some not-so-fun times, when they both had to have their teeth worked on. Avery had to have a filling that turned out to be a pretty bad one - therefore she got a special silver tooth! She was completed sedated for the whole process. When she woke up she groggily asked, "Did I get braces?" haha Caleb has had braces for about the past two months and will be getting them taken off in December we think. It was just to straighten out the top two front teeth and they are pretty much there.
Then Gabe had to have his big oral surgery in November as well. He had a couple of canine teeth that weren't coming in the right place, threatening to damage the roots of this permanent two front teeth. So he missed school Wednesday through Friday and ate a lot of soup! But hopefully this will help us avoid having to get him fake teeth as a teenager!
For Halloween, Avery was Minnie Mouse, Caleb was Darth Maul (from Star Wars), and Gabe was a skeleton. We went to the Burton Carnival (Josh had to work so I decided to wear a prisoner costume so we could look like we matched… haha), we went to the Drive-In Trunk or Treat, and we went regular trick or treating in our neighborhood on Halloween. I also helped out with Caleb's and Avery's class parties this year. Avery had a really fun time at her dance class halloween party also.
Avery had her very first dance performance this last week. She danced with her class at the Festival of Trees in Idaho Falls. It was pretty low-key and they only had two lessons to learn and practice their "dance" but I was just going to be happy if she didn't run off the stage crying! But she surprised me and did soooo well! She danced the whole time and mostly did the right moves even! I'm so glad that she seemed to really enjoy it and I hope she keeps dancing for a long time! She's so cute to watch!
We got some sad news right before Thanksgiving. Josh's grandma was not doing well and we hurried and went to visit her the Friday after Avery's dance show, November 18th. She didn't talk much but the one sentence she did say was to Josh right before we left. She held his hand and said "You're so sweet." She passed away Monday, November 21st in her home with her husband, Eldon. He was her second husband, and they have only been married for about 5 years, but he took such good care of her. The whole family was grateful he was there for her. Today was her funeral in Rigby and it was such a beautiful celebration of her life. I don't think the kids fully understood (well Avery didn't at least) but they did have a lot of fun seeing all of their cousins and hanging out at the church.
We also spent Thanksgiving with Josh's family at the Ashton church (or at least some of them - that weren't sharing holidays with other in-laws or whatnot). They did their usual basketball game afterwards, which I have never really understood how you can eat so much and then play basketball… but nonetheless! They do it! Then Josh had to go in to work at Walmart from 5-9 for the Black Friday crowds. Nothing too crazy happened, thankfully.
So that is the summary of the past month and a half! Now it's on to Christmas already! I think I will actually have this book printed out here for my Christmas present to myself! Here are some photos!
