I am SO. SICK. OF. WINTER. Every year I really question why I live here in Idaho. And then we go someplace on vacation and it almost makes it worse because then I get a taste of paradise and then I have to come back to this frigid wasteland I call home. Josh says it's good that it's cold here because it keeps away all the crazy people that live in other warm places. I told him it's not nice to talk about my dad like that. ;) Ahahaha. That's funny.
Here is a picture of Avery buried in snow in our back yard.
Anyways! So in the month of January Caleb has been doing basketball with the rec department and has games every Saturday and practice usually on Fridays. Gabe has soccer practice on Wednesdays and is going to start games in March. Avery is doing dance every Thursday. Caleb also has cub scouts on Wednesdays and Gabe also has young men church activities on Tuesdays. So it gets pretty crazy between 3:00-7:00 on weeknights. As I was preparing to go on our cruise and making a list of things for my mom to know, it turned into like a 12 page letter giving instructions of everything the kids had going on day by day. But at least my mom had the hours of 8:00-2:30 to herself every weekday while they were in school.
So before I talk about our cruise, here are some pictures of Caleb playing basketball and Avery doing her dance showcase. She actually had her dance showcase while we were gone, which I was sad to miss. But Diane (Josh's mom) took her.
Other highlights of January... Avery lost her first tooth! I went back to her baby book to confirm this fact and YES it was also the very first tooth she got as a baby. Then about two weeks later, she lost her other bottom tooth! Which, as a baby, she also got two weeks after the first one. So apparently those teeth have a very predictable life span. The tooth fairy came and brought her $3 per tooth.
Another thing to note... so at the police department, in honor of a woman employee who found out she has cancer, every officer shaved their head! Josh has been battling some thinning hair on the back of his head for about the past year. I guess this was just his way of throwing in the towel on a losing battle. He argued that maybe by shaving it all, it would grow in even thicker than before. Not holding my breath on that one...
Then finally, there's Gabe. Not much to report except that he is getting taller and more hormonal with every passing day. His attitude level is getting out of control. He is never wrong. It's just great.
Also before we left for our cruise, Josh surprised me by getting rid of our cat. I literally came home one day and she was gone. Josh had told me he was going to try and find a home for her so I knew that was on the radar, I guess I just didn't realize it would happen so instantaneously. I didn't even say goodbye! I was a little sad, but she was getting so feisty and mean that it wasn't too heartbreaking to see her go to a new home. After she left, Drax seemed to star being allowed into the house more and more. I really don't mind Drax. But he is a big dog so I don't really want him in the house full-time.
"Why don't you want me in your house full-time??"
Okay, so that about sums up January. The weather and snow amount has just been awful this year so I was VERY excited to escape it for a cruise on February 1. I think I will actually write a separate post on just our cruise. To be continued...
