So after our St. George trip, I had about two weeks of normal life again with kids' school and soccer games and so on. Then I got to take a quick little trip with one of my good friends to New York City! But I am going to do a separate post on that. Before I do, here are some little things that happened at home lately.
Josh turned 39! We celebrated at home with cake the night before. The next morning, he and I went out to breakfast at Chick Fil A in Idaho Falls, right before I went to the airport. (More on that later..) Yes, I left on his birthday.... :{
Gabe got braces!! He's not to excited about it but we know he will appreciate it someday. Here he is, day 1: April 17th. The goal is to have them off in less than 18 months. We will see how well he wears his rubber bands and stuff!
Caleb had his DARE graduation. DARE is basically a program they do as part of school in 5th grade that teaches them drugs and alcohol are bad. They are trying to prep them for junior high since that is typically when kids try things for the first time. Probably not so much here in Rexburg as in Wisconsin, but still. They do this nationwide. It's taught by the school resource officer at the middle school and then on the graduation nights all the officers attend in support.
Avery also had her Three Piggy Opera play at school the day after I returned from New York. She played the "stick peddler" who sells sticks to the second little pig. It was so cute! She sang a solo at the microphone and did so well. It was a short little song, "I sell sticks....I sell sticks... a penny will buy six...." (cheap sticks!) and she was a little timid, but her voice was so pretty. Here are a couple pictures of her. I tried to upload a little video too. We will see if that works!
So that was some of the fun stuff happening on the home front the past couple weeks. Gabe also had some soccer games. He had one while I was gone that they were playing against 16 year olds (Gabe's team is all 13-14 year olds) but I guess it was just a "Friendly" scrimmage to see how they would do. They did lose, but only like 3-2 and Josh said they played really well. Then they also had one where they totally won like 10-2. Then just on Saturday (I was back for it) they had a game here in Rexburg where they were down 1-3 at half time and then their coach gave them the pep talk of the year about how, "The other team is NOT better than you! They just want it more! I wouldn't be telling you this if I didn't think you can do it! This is our turf! How does it make you feel to know that they are beating you on our turf? What are you going to do about it??" (I was sitting nearby so I heard it all lol) And then they went out there and scored 4 goals in the second half to win it 5-3!! It was like a movie. It was so cool. Their coach is from England so hearing him yell things is entertainment itself. "Oh, you lads set your alarms for the 10th quarter! Alright then! Very well!" haha
Okay, so I think I will actually do a separate post just for NYC. I gotta get going to work right now at the school. So I will leave off with that!
