May as always a whirlwind of activity! The first two weeks of May I am always doing how to presentations at school with the eighth graders and Josh seems to be gone (usually to Texas or Boise) for some sort of police training or something! Plus this year we had all of Caleb senior year things to attend! So this post will only cover the first half of May!
Caleb's Senior Prom
The first exciting thing that happened was on May 2 and that was Caleb Senior prom. He went with a girl named Sarah Cameron, who was actually Josh‘s mission president granddaughter! Sara and Caleb have been friends for a lot of their senior year and Caleb had asked her already back in the end of March probably they went with a group of friends, including Noah, Atlee, Lexi, Carter, Naomi, and many more! I think there were at least eight couples in their group. For their day, they ended up going to the Bannock Ghost Town in Dillon, Montana. Then they came back and got ready and then had dinner at Gabe Lamb’s house. I took over a fruit salad, and some other moms helped with the rest of the food.
Avery's Orchestra Concert
Avery had her last (probably ever) orchestra concert in May! She has played the viola in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and I think overall it has been great for her to make some new friends and learn a new skill, but she doesn't super love it and the teacher would switch nesxt year from the amazing Mrs. Loveland to the somewhat dry and more strict, Mr. Hansen! So she was not too thrilled to keep doing it. So here are a couple of pictures of her last orchestra concert! She did great though and they all sounded really good! Her favorite song was the "Pirates of the Caribbean' song.
Avery's Piano Recital
Also in May, Avery had her piano recital! This was Claire's group of students, so there were also about 10 other kids that performed. Claire rented this little recital hall out in Hibbard at someone's property that she knows and it was really nice! Avery played a song called "Sneaky Business" and she did a perfect job! Sometimes its a battle to get her to perform in front of people because she gets sooo nervous, but she did great!
Avery's Friends
Avery has really been trying to kind of, expand her circle of friends this year and it's been fun to see her kind of come out of her shell! She had her little friend group in middle school, but as they grew up and their interests started to change, it was obvious she didn't really click with some of them anymore. So this year in 8th grade, she was able to meet some new people and I think it's been really good! She got invited to this girl, Zandi's, birthday party (pic to follow) and she has been hanging out with Kynlee this summer at tennis lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Briella and her are still good friends, but since Briella's mom passed away in March, it's looking like she might be moving this summer. Her dad is looking for a bew job currently and they have their house up for sale. It's been super rough, but Briella still comes over here a lot and hangs out when she's in the right mood. I think if she moves, it will be really hard for Avery but also could maybe force her to make more friends instead of just relying on Briella. So that's the update on the friends! She also went golfing with Caleb in May and I wanted to include a picture because I thought that was really cute that Caleb ad her just went together!
