Caleb's St. George Trip, Gabe nearing the end of his mission, Avery updates

Caleb's St. George Trip

About a week after graduation, Caleb's friend, Lexi, had her birthday trip to St. George. It was something that Caleb was looking forward to for months, and I was stressed the whole time he was driving there and back, but he had a great time! Lexi's parents rented a house in Santa Clara and there were about 10 friends there, plus Lexi's family. I really think this trip was kind of the thing that motivated Caleb to lose weight (that, and being done with football, so he didn't need to stay big!) and he has lost about 70 pounds now since March! It's kind of crazy looking at his pictures from winter versus now. Anyways, they had a lot of fun going on hikes, going to the temple, and going boating and swimming. He was there from about 5 days from May 27 - May 31. Then he got home and started working more at the golf course mowing and doing other things! I will include a picture of that too! I saw him mowing there one day when I was golfing with Lindsey Summers and some other women. It's a pretty nice job for an 18-year-old boy to have!

Gabe nearing the end of his mission!

I am playing catch-up here, but as I write this, Gabe only has 18 days left of his mission!! I can't believe it. I am soooo excited to see him! He has absolutely loved his last area, Granada, and he has had two really good companions there. First, he had Elder Cabrera until mid-April, and now he is with Elder Drysdale. He will be there and with Drysdale until the end of his mission! He told us recently that he has been soooo busy with teaching people and getting people ready for baptism. He said he's been busier this last month than probably any other time during his whole mission. I know he is going to be a little sad to come home, but hopefully he isn't too disappointed when he gets here! Here are some pictures of him with Elder Drysdale!

Avery's tennis and other random things!

Avery got invited to this end of the school year bonfire party at Lucy Holman's house at the end of May, so I'm including a picture of that. She's trying to expand her friend group to include more than just Briella, especially since Briella might end up moving. So she's been doing tennis with a girl named Kynlee who is super nice (see pic) and I'm hoping she hangs out with her more next year!

May - Part 2 - Seminary Graduation, Caleb's Mission Call Opening, Tennis Senior Night, and Graduation!

Caleb's Seminary Graduation

Josh was gone again (like he was for Gabe's), so me, Claire, Josh's parents, and Avery went and watched Caleb graduate from seminary. He was one of 4 kids in our ward (Benson, Douglas Flamm, and Casie Cluff were the other 3) who graduated seminary. It was a nice night and I was so glad that he got everything done and was able to graduate! He had missed some days, so he needed to do some missing work, but he got it!

Caleb's Mission Call

Josh was still gone to Texas, so he wasn't there. But Caleb got his mission call on Monday, May 18th! He had put in his papers on Sunday, May 3, so he waited about 15 days for his call! When he got the text, it was about 5:00pm and we had just gotten done filming this cute graduation Instagram reel with Camri Call and Mrs. McCoy at Burton Elementary. I had just gotten home and Caleb had somewhere with Benson, and then he texted me and told me he got the call! At first we were going to have everyone gather at the clubhouse at 7:00, but then he called some friends and decided to wait until 8:30. I ran to Walmart with Avery and got a cake for Caleb that said "Called to Serve" on it, and then we quick hurried back home and got over to the clubhouse with the giant map and some pens and pins for people to place their guesses! It was kind of crazy because we had just been talking to people like Camri and Amy McCoy about how Caleb had put on his papers that he wanted to go to a "cold, Northern country" and Camri guessed Canada on the map! I was thinking maybe Alaska or Canada, but my mom had opened it first (Caleb had called her like Gabe did and had her look first) and she had told him "foreign" so I was like, "Hmmm... " So I honestly wasn't too surprised when he opened it and said, "Winnipeg, Canada." He starts Home MTC on October 14, which will be perfect. I'm really excited for him and he seemed happy about it too!

Caleb's Tennis Senior Night

On May 7, Caleb had his senior night for tennis. I kind of got roped into helping with it, but it turned out fine. We did little gift bags for each senior with some snacks, some tape, and some tennis balls in them. Coach Marcel ordered pizzas and then we brought some salads and desserts. Caleb didn't really care too much about it, but I thought it was nice to honor his years playing tennis in high school. He was never super competitive about it, but I think he had a lot of fun, especially because all his friends (Benson, Cole, etc) were on the team too!

Caleb's High School Graduation Day

Caleb had his high school graduation on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Josh got home about two hours before Caleb's graduation. We went to the BYUI center for it (like we had with Gabe's) and we met Brad and Diane there. The whole ceremony last from about 6:00-7:30, but by the time we found Caleb in the gym afterward and took some pictures, it was already 9:00. Caleb's darn hat wouldn't stay on, so in his pictures, he's never wearing his hat! It was a good ceremony though and all went smoothly. Then we tried to find a place to eat afterwards, but hardly anyplace was still open and Applebee's was packed, so we just ended up going to get Doorza pizzas and coming back home. Caleb took a quick hour nap, and then he went to the grad night at Fat Cats with some of his friends like Lexi and Benson and others.

I am also going to include a few of his professional pics we had taken a few days before graduation by Brianne Serrano. It wss a super windy night, but somehow, she got some good shots!

May - Part 1 - Caleb's Senior Prom, Avery's Orchestra and Piano Concerts, and more Fun with Friends!

May as always a whirlwind of activity! The first two weeks of May I am always doing how to presentations at school with the eighth graders and Josh seems to be gone (usually to Texas or Boise) for some sort of police training or something! Plus this year we had all of Caleb senior year things to attend! So this post will only cover the first half of May!

Caleb's Senior Prom

The first exciting thing that happened was on May 2 and that was Caleb Senior prom. He went with a girl named Sarah Cameron, who was actually Josh‘s mission president granddaughter! Sara and Caleb have been friends for a lot of their senior year and Caleb had asked her already back in the end of March probably they went with a group of friends, including Noah, Atlee, Lexi, Carter, Naomi, and many more! I think there were at least eight couples in their group. For their day, they ended up going to the Bannock Ghost Town in Dillon, Montana. Then they came back and got ready and then had dinner at Gabe Lamb’s house. I took over a fruit salad, and some other moms helped with the rest of the food.

Avery's Orchestra Concert

Avery had her last (probably ever) orchestra concert in May! She has played the viola in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and I think overall it has been great for her to make some new friends and learn a new skill, but she doesn't super love it and the teacher would switch nesxt year from the amazing Mrs. Loveland to the somewhat dry and more strict, Mr. Hansen! So she was not too thrilled to keep doing it. So here are a couple of pictures of her last orchestra concert! She did great though and they all sounded really good! Her favorite song was the "Pirates of the Caribbean' song.

Avery's Piano Recital

Also in May, Avery had her piano recital! This was Claire's group of students, so there were also about 10 other kids that performed. Claire rented this little recital hall out in Hibbard at someone's property that she knows and it was really nice! Avery played a song called "Sneaky Business" and she did a perfect job! Sometimes its a battle to get her to perform in front of people because she gets sooo nervous, but she did great!

Avery's Friends

Avery has really been trying to kind of, expand her circle of friends this year and it's been fun to see her kind of come out of her shell! She had her little friend group in middle school, but as they grew up and their interests started to change, it was obvious she didn't really click with some of them anymore. So this year in 8th grade, she was able to meet some new people and I think it's been really good! She got invited to this girl, Zandi's, birthday party (pic to follow) and she has been hanging out with Kynlee this summer at tennis lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Briella and her are still good friends, but since Briella's mom passed away in March, it's looking like she might be moving this summer. Her dad is looking for a bew job currently and they have their house up for sale. It's been super rough, but Briella still comes over here a lot and hangs out when she's in the right mood. I think if she moves, it will be really hard for Avery but also could maybe force her to make more friends instead of just relying on Briella. So that's the update on the friends! She also went golfing with Caleb in May and I wanted to include a picture because I thought that was really cute that Caleb ad her just went together!
